We’re Thomas and Sheena, food and travel fiends. We travel full time, hunting for the BEST local food in the world to showcase via our YouTube videos. Food is a window into a country's culture and one of the most exciting ways to get to know a place.

We're all about eating what and where the locals eat. You won't find food that's been created merely to be social media worthy on here- no rainbow bagels, gold leaf soft serves- just genuine, authentic food that tastes incredible.

From street food to mom and pop restaurants, we want to show you the best and most authentic food we find on our travels.

😆😆😆 we always love learning a few words in the local language wherever we are- I think it’s rude to expect people to understand English when it’s obviously not their mother tongue. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, hope you enjoy the rest of our India series. Cheers, Sheena

@Chasing a Plate – Thomas & Sheena When you asked what the dish was, The waiter said sollunga which means please tell/inform because he probably didn’t know the name of the dish in English.

Coffee in South India is always amazing and refreshing in the morning for breakfast. Chikmangalur district in Karnataka State is the hub for coffee plantation and various coffee brands in Karnataka State and other South Indian states.

This is such great information Nigel! Thank you for that. We really have to get there on our next visit. Thanks for watching and commenting on this one. Cheers, Sheena

Thomas knows I love when he edits in long distance shots of Sheena blending in with the crowd. It’s kind of a bonus for me! 😀👍👍
*_Amma Mess_* – I read an article and watched a couple of videos. I know you know that the location you visited is the original but the owners have been at their second larger resto in KK Nagar for a few years. It’s a couple of km away. You went to the original because it was convenient, eh? Same menu and run by their son so obviously authentic recipes and techniques.
*_Bun Parotta_* – Sheena had so much fun making the dough balls but then Thomas said some were too small. 😂 Reminds me when Sheena made wok noodles which were delicious but mushy. Thomas said everyone should visit that stall but not to worry because Sheena will *_not_* be working the wok. Hahaha. Good natured and super hilarious. Made me laugh.
    *_Excellent day! Quite memorable._*

🤣 the cheek of him! I yelled at him from behind the camera when he said that but the audio didn’t pick it up 😆 It was so fun getting a chance to participate- those guys were super friendly. Yea we went to the original Amma Mess because it was closer to where we were filming and figured since it was in the family all the recipes and techniques would be the same 😄 We would have loved to have returned to sample more of the menu but they were closed over Tamil New Year so we couldn’t get back. It was bad timing and planning on our part as so many places we wanted to film at were closed 😝 So glad you enjoyed this one mate, thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena

  4. Kellie Squire

Wow the people of India look so friendly and fun. I think the Iddiyapam and the Bun Parotta are my go for sure. The Parotta reminds me of croissants in pastry flakiness. They probably dont taste like them though. They sure do look delicious😁

    1. Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena
